The Real Way to Lose Weight
70Have you ever wanted to lose weight but just don't know where to start? The vast amount of weight loss information out there may be overwhelming especially for someone who is unfamiliar with diet and exercise. Let's face it, how are you going to decide what to do when there are a million different things thrown in your face. From different dieting techniques, exercise routines, and supplements there is plenty of information out there to help you succeed. With all of this information why does weight loss still seem like a struggle for a lot of people? The main reason why people fail is the simple fact that they have the wrong mentality. One of the most frustrating things to see is the claim that weight loss can be simple. Or you can lose weight quickly without doing much work. Maybe this can be true to some extent but to really lose the weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle it takes a lot of hard work and dedication.
Just like anything in life, hard work gets you far in your weight loss goals. If you're still reading this then you have taken the first step. Congrats on not taking the easy way out and finding something that says 'you can lose weight sitting on your couch!!' No, you can't. Sorry. Here are some ways to help you succeed.
# 1 Set A Goal
Set a goal even if it is simple. Grab a pen and paper or if you're living in the 21st century, your smart phone and write down a few things you want to accomplish. Try not to go overboard, setting goals that are too unrealistic can be discouraging. Goals are whatever you want them to be. Anything will help, whether it's walking an extra mile a day, cutting out your soda fix, or participating in your first half marathon.
# 2 Find a Friend
If you're finding it difficult to meet your goals on your own, find a friend. Competition always breeds better results. Even if you think you're not competing with your friend, you are. Get real, there is no way you want to see somebody run further than you, bench more, or hold that plank longer. It will help you and help them.
# 3 Find an Outlet
Don't have any friends to help push you? Maybe you're new to an area and have not met someone or maybe you're just socially awkward. Whatever it is there are other outlets you can seek.
If you love sports. Try and find a league to participate in. Whether its tennis, flag football, soccer, pick up basketball, or softball, sports will help you stay active and at the same time maybe you will meet some new friends. If you absolutely despise sports, try zumba, yoga, swimming or etc. There has to be something out there you like!
# 4 Eat Better
Pushing yourself to stay active and work out is not the only area where dedication is needed. Proper nutrition may be even more difficult to attain especially if you're use to having your daily donut fix. Knowing what to eat is easy, actually eating what you're suppose to is difficult. It's important to properly research what foods are healthy and which ones are not. A good rule to stick by is, if you think you shouldn't eat it than you probably shouldn't. There are loads and loads of books and articles that will tell you how to eat better. Make the effort, eating better will only help you.
# 5 The Little Things
It blows my mind to see people pay hundreds of dollars a year for a gym membership or fancy equipment and then take the elevator or buy a self propelled lawn mower. There are opportunities to get in bits of exercise everywhere we go. Take the stairs, those few steps can go a long way. And, unless you have some type of health condition don't buy self propelled machines. Stop being lazy!
The New You
Weight loss is a difficult and yet rewarding process. A few changes here and there will make a difference in the long run but if you truly want to reach your goals and live a better life you need to work hard. The results will be fantastic and you will feel great about your life. Change comes from within and only you can decide what's best for you. Don't be discouraged if you don't see the results you want right away. Diet and exercise will only help you!! Good luck.

Thanks for the advice! I have been meaning to lose some lbs that I have been carrying around for a couple of years. It was really interesting to read what you said about dieting with a friend...I never thought about that. Dieting with a friend would definitely help the process. Have you ever thought of making youtube videos?
